Project
A three level 3,300 square foot single family residence.
Challenges
The house is constructed on the site of a recent landslide.
Solutions
Since the structure is founded on a recent landslide, special sub-grade
preparations were specified for the construction of the foundations and
lower level slab systems. The residence is primarily a wood framed
structure. Small steel frames were used to create the large windows that
span the entire width of the south side of the upper level. The concrete
fireplace was used has a structural element for both vertical and lateral
support of the upper level. Structural Composite Lumber was used for the
large spans and cantilevered areas in the upper level to create the
floating appearance above the fireplace.
